Notre Dame acted quickly with Montre Miller.

The former West Virginia cornerback announced he was entering the Transfer Portal on Tuesday. On the same day, he announced an offer from the Irish.

“I got in contact with the coaches, they contacted me about needing a corner and we just went from there,” Miller told Irish Sports Daily. “We talked about trying to get up there on a visit. My plan is to get up there at some point next week.”

Miller, who has also added offers from Mississippi State, UConn, UAB, Texas State and Jacksonville State, immediately had interest in the Irish.

“The tradition for sure, especially going back to Lou Holtz and just what they've done,” he said of his interest in Notre Dame. “The amount of players they put into the next level and the coaches. I know there are a lot of NFL coaches who have been through there, a lot of NFL players.

“I definitely feel like it's somewhere I could see myself being my last year. They're definitely great at developing players, so that's what's drawn me to them.”

Miller was impressed with the combination of opportunity and talent currently in the Irish secondary.

“They've definitely got a first-round talent at corner,” he said, referring to Ben Morrison. “They've got a great secondary. They talked about a lot of other DBs. They were thinking about trying to add another corner to their room, definitely some experience. They were talking about the schemes, schematics about where I could come in and fit. I think I'd definitely be able to come in and help.

“They play a lot of man coverage as well as zone. Benjamin Morrison is one of the top cornerbacks in college football, how he could play man. I'm a really good man corner and I could come in and be effective, whether that's in the slot or playing on the outside.”

Miller spoke with multiple Irish staffers after entering the portal and is looking forward to locking visits in to South Bend and potentially elsewhere/

“I've been talking with Mississippi State, Iowa State and there are a few other schools I'm still in contact with, trying to set some stuff up,” he said. “I'm just going to go from there.”

Miller expects to make a quick decision.

“I'm trying to go on these officials and make a decision by some point next week,” he said.

“I'm not trying to drag it out. I'm trying to make a decision sooner rather than later.”
