Archbishop Rummel head coach Nick Monica has a simple way to describe 2021 Louisiana running back Logan Diggs‍.

“He’s complete,” Monica says of Diggs, who has garnered scholarship offers from schools like Notre Dame, USC, Oklahoma State, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Virginia, Vanderbilt, Arizona, Arizona State and Arkansas among others.

“He’s a running back who can make you miss in space. He’s a bigger back, so he’s able to break through tackles. He’s really good in pass protection, which you don’t see that often at this level, and also a pretty good receiving threat as a running back. He’s a pretty good back and a great kid to go along with it.”

Monica gives credit to Diggs for embracing the work required to be a good pass protector, something a lot of elite backs don’t focus on or aren’t asked to focus on.

“First of all, I think it’s a choice by the player to be committed to doing it and being good at it, so kudos to him for that,” says Monica. “That has a lot to do with it. He’s not treated any differently, so he goes through the same drills and reps that everybody else does. He just takes a little more pride in it.

“He’s a good kid, good student. He gets along with everybody. He’s a good locker room guy as well. I think he’s got a pretty good head on his shoulders and comes from good parents.”

All of the attention and scholarship offers haven’t gone to Diggs’ head, according to his coach.

“He’s a pretty level-headed kid,” says Monica. “I think he’s just soaking it all in right now. He’s probably going to end up doing whatever is best for him and his family.”

Diggs is grateful for all of the offers, but Monica says he felt the offer from the Irish, which came last month was “more special because it doesn’t happen too often down here.”

“I can’t remember too many guys from the school – in fact, I can’t remember any who were offered by Notre Dame,” the coach continues. “I think for him to get that offer was a little different.”

Monica and Diggs are hoping the current dead period is lifted soon, which would allow Diggs to get out and see some schools before having to make a decision.

“We’re hoping things get back to some sort of normalcy soon and when that happens, he’ll use his visits. I’d pretty much guarantee that one of them would be to South Bend. It’s a gorgeous facility from what I understand, so I’m sure he’d be excited to get up there.”
