Jerome Carvin is certainly on Notre Dame’s radar and the 2018 Tennessee offensive lineman says that’s “awesome.”

“Coach (Mike) Elston mostly DMs me on Twitter,” the 6-foot-4, 315-pounder from Cordova High School said.

“He was saying he wants me to learn more about the program. He’s been sending me photo edits telling me, ‘Good luck’ with my games and stuff like that.”

He was invited to an Irish game last fall, but couldn’t make it.

“The recruiting process has been great to me,” Carvin said. “I really do want to learn more about Notre Dame. They invited me to the game in San Antonio, I just didn’t have a chance to go.

“I know it has a very rich history. They’re a very good football team.”

He’s excited to know Notre Dame is aware of him.

“It feels great,” he said. “I definitely never would have thought Notre Dame would be recruiting me, so it’s just awesome.”

He already has offers from Louisville, Kentucky and Memphis.

“It feels great,” he said. “It shows that my hard work is paying off and I’m just going to keep on grinding to get more.”

College coaches like his size and athleticism.

“They said they like how physical I am and how I’m able to move at my size,” the junior lineman said. “They like the way I move.”

The schools are split on where he’d fit best, but that doesn’t concern Carvin.

“Louisville is recruiting me at tackle,” he said. “Kentucky and Memphis are recruiting me at guard. It doesn’t really matter.”

He would like to get to South Bend at some point if he can to check out Notre Dame’s campus.

“Probably next year,” he said.

He had the chance to visit a few schools this year.

“I visited Memphis, Alabama, Louisville and I’ve been to Kentucky,” he said. “They were great. They were the SEC, so that’s high caliber.”

He’d like the chance to check out Florida and Missouri in the future as well.

Finding the best fit will be important when Carvin is picking one school over the rest.

“Definitely how I feel about the campus, how I feel about daily life at school there.”
