Discuss: "Not-So Early" Signing Period, Spring Official Visits
It’s been debated for years and could be on its way, but it may not come in the form some had hoped.
An early signing period for college football could be coming, but it’s being recommended that that period come in the middle of December after the Football Oversight Committee chose not to support a proposal that would call for an early signing period in June.
The early signing period, which would be in addition to the traditional National Signing Day the first Wednesday in February, could be voted on and approved by April.
But while the early signing period will receive a ton of the attention, there’s actually another proposal that could change things as much, if not more.
If approved, that proposal would allow prospects to take official visits from the beginning of April to the end of June.
