2019 Good Counsel (Md.) receiver Cam Hart‍ has committed to Notre Dame and becomes the first wide receiver in the class for Del Alexander.

The 6-foot-3, 181-pounder held 17 offers from the likes of Duke, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State, North Carolina, Pitt, Purdue, Virginia, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.

The academic fit at Notre Dame might have been the tipping point for the three-star prospect as he impressed with the opportunities on and off the field.

“They have something great going on academically,” stated Hart. “I liked every bit of it. There are only a few schools like Notre Dame. It has the best of both worlds.”

The Maryland native made the trip to South Bend during the first week of June and left impressed with the people around the Notre Dame program. Alexander and Hart developed a close relationship over the last few months, but other coaches made sure they went the extra mile to make sure he felt welcome.

“Coach (Chip) Long and Coach (Terry) Joseph. They were all cool guys and really genuine.”

While academics played a significant role in his recruitment, Hart also made sure to point out the people around the program was a factor for him.

“You can have great football at a lot of schools,” said Hart. “I want to go to a school where the people are genuine and a place that has a family feel.”
