Jordan Johnson‍ has one more trip to make this offseason before shutting things down a bit until summer is over.

“In July, I’ll be visiting Florida,” the 2020 St. Louis wide receiver says. “Other than that, I won’t be visiting any other schools until we get to fall and then I’ll be visiting more schools for games.”

The Gators offered the 6-foot-2, 180-pounder back at the end of April and when a chance to visit Gainesville after the dead period presented itself, he took advantage.

“I’ve heard a lot about Florida,” he explains. “I know Florida is a good school. I just wanted to go up and see it for myself. It’s going to be my mom’s birthday, so we’re going down there for a little vacation, so we thought, ‘Why not just go visit the school?’”

The DeSmet Jesuit High School standout received an offer from Notre Dame back in January and followed up with a trip to South Bend in March. He texts with Irish assistant Tom Rees about the next steps.

“He just wants me to get back up on campus and come visit again,” Johnson says of Rees.

And Johnson will be back.

“For sure,” he says. “I’ll be up there in the fall.

“I want to see how their coaches coach in a game situation. I want to see how the players play in a game situation too and just how the atmosphere is on game day and how everything is.”

Notre Dame is a school that’s had his attention for a while and that only increased with his initial visit.

“It’s a great school academically,” he explains. “Me and mom loved that, my mom loved it especially. It’s a great academic school, great football team. They’ve got all of the statistics on how they’re a great team and that’s what I really liked.”

He also made a stop at Ohio State recently, which he said “was cool.”

Johnson doesn’t plan on coming up with a list of favorites.

“I’m not going to drop any top schools or anything,” he says. “I’m just going to wait until I commit.”

And when will that be?

“It’ll be after my junior season.”
