Denton Ryan (Texas) has been a hot spot on the recruiting trail over the past month and 2021 defensive end Ja’tavion Sanders is one of the many players coaches are stopping to check on.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder will be a future game wrecker on the defensive side of the ball, but he’s hoping to catch a few touchdowns this fall on offense.

“I will be playing both sides of the ball,” Sanders said. “When it comes to crunch time, I’ll be on offense catching fades.”

Sanders isn’t technically a junior, but he’s already made sure to firmly grab a leadership role on the team.

“Our whole defense is filled with some dogs,” stated Sanders. “I’m one of the leaders of the team and I have everybody right, especially the young guys.”

The Texas native already holds one of the most impressive offer lists as Notre Dame, Arkansas, Baylor, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M and Washington are just a few of the program who have offered.

“It’s been very exciting and a dream come true,” explained Sanders. “We’ve talked about this since we were little. I’ve looked up to role models in the NFL who have already done it.”

Notre Dame is a program who has the attention of his teammate, 2021 athlete Billy Bowman Jr‍ and the Irish have also made an impression on Sanders.

“I definitely like the whole coaching staff,” Sanders stated. “It’s a beautiful place up there and I’ll most likely be visiting up there. We’re trying to get there during the summer time.”

Sanders was able to see the Fighting Irish make a run to the College Football Playoff last season and it was only a positive in his eyes.

“The defense can stop the ball and the offense can move the ball,” said Sanders. “Since they made the Playoff, it showed they can win a National Championship.”

Texas is another program Sanders is high on and he hopes to get back to Austin sooner than later.

“Hopefully, I’ll be going down there for camp,” stated Sanders. “I’m talking to Coach (Oscar) Giles. Coach Giles is definitely cool. I like him a lot and he likes me a lot. We just click.”

Sanders was also impressed with what the Longhorns did on the field last season as Texas knocked off Georgia in the Sugar Bowl to end the season.

“They made it far and the bowl win stands out,” said Sanders. “They are capable of winning a National Championship and a good team.”
