Caught up with a coach at St. John's College High School in Washington, D.C., home of 2018 CB DJ Brown, who just received an offer from Notre Dame.

As ISD's Matt Freeman reported earlier, the 6-foot-1, 180-pounder committed to Virginia in July but his former high school teammate Kofi Wardlow signed with Irish last year, so there is a connection to Notre Dame that could benefit the Irish down the line.

It's also worth noting Notre Dame flipped LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah from Virginia a year ago as well.

Brown remains committed to Virginia, but Notre Dame is an offer he will take very seriously and is already looking at scheduling an official visit to South Bend sometime.

The coach I spoke with couldn't say enough good things about Brown as a player and as a person. Sounds like potentially a great fit for the Irish, although the two sides have to get to know each other better.

Also, Brown seems like a kid who could receive a flurry of high-major offers here soon after a standout senior season.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder is also a standout baseball player, which helps him when it comes to tracking the football as well as swinging his hips when necessary on the gridiron.

I'll have a full premium story on Brown up soon.

Couple more quick notes:

Looks like Brown will take an official visit to Notre Dame for next weekend's Echoes event.

Also, Brown and Wardlow spoke a couple weeks ago and Wardlow told him he loves Notre Dame and couldn't imagine being somewhere else.
