Although Duke was the better team a couple nights ago, they also played as good a game as they possibly could and benefitted from some very good luck. Allen hit at least 3 extremely long 3 pointers in a row from beyond the area where any reasonable defender would start guarding him and he hit 5 3's in a row. There were several plays where a Duke player threw up an awkward shot or the ball was batted toward the hoop and damn if it didn't go in. Duke's freshman skyscraper also played the game of his young life.I wasn't overly impressed with Duke's zone. They did a good job against the 3, but it looked like Bonzie could have scored 60 by himself on those 13-15 footers in the middle. Everything Duke did came out golden. On the other hand, it was obvious that ND was playing on fumes. They missed their first 4 free throws, which is entirely out of character. They were short on many, many shots, an indication of tired legs. Duke smartly left Geben open on any number of short jumpers, which caused him to look confused and either pass up an easy shot or to miss it. I think a rested and whole ND beats Duke about 4 out of 10 times. Duke showed their fallibility against North Carolina last night. Against ND they were supernen.
