Notre Dame has hit Hawaii hard over the last few seasons and head coach Brian Kelly was actually in Hawaii this week to do an in-home visit with 2020 Notre Dame commit Jordan Botelho.

2021 James Campbell (Hawaii) athlete Titus Mokiao-Atimalala‍ got good news on Tuesday as the Irish offered him a scholarship.

"I was on the phone with Brian Polian," Mokiao-Atimalala stated. "He offered a scholarship to me.

"It's a blessing. Notre Dame is a big school. My cousin Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa is there and I know Alohi Gilman. A lot of great guys from Hawaii have gone there."

The Ewa Beach native has been well-aware of Hawaiians have success at Notre Dame despite his family ties.

"Knowing what they're doing over there is amazing," said Mokiao-Atimalala. "I'm happy for them. For me to receive a scholarship like this is great."

Mokiao-Atimalala plans to head to the mainland in a few months to make a few visits and compete at a few camps.

"I'm planning on doing some visits in the next couple of months," explained Mokiao-Atimalala. "I'd like to go check out some schools. I have some camps I'll be going to and I would love to go visit some schools too."

The 6-foot, 165-pounder plays receiver and safety, but when it comes down to it, Mokiao-Atimalala is focused on becoming a better leader before his senior year.

"For me, my strengths are my route running and my mindset on the field," Mokiao-Atimalala explained.

"I need to work on being more of a leader. I'm already a leader and vocal to my teammates, but I want to be able to help my guys and help them get better. I don't want just me to grind. I want the whole team to grind."

Work ethic isn't a concern as Mokiao-Atimalala has put himself in a position to hold offers from Notre Dame, Cal, Hawaii, Michigan, Oregon State, Utah and Wisconsin.

"One thing we work on every day is catching," Mokiao-Atimalala said. "We catch 100 balls a day after practice. We have Sunday training to practice our route running and jukes.

"My mindset as a receiver is to take it to the crib every time I touch it. I want to get it to the end zone."

Now that he has an offer from the Irish, Mokiao-Atimalala expects Tagovailoa-Amosa to recruit him even harder.

"Oh yeah," laughed Mokiao-Atimalala. "I'm close with his family.  He's been talking to me and Myron's dad has told me about the situation.

"He said Notre Dame would come and today it came. It's a blessing."
