After making a pair of trips to South Bend last year, Kaden Saunders‍ is ready for his first visit to Notre Dame in 2020.

After a conversation with Notre Dame wide receivers coach Del Alexander, the 2022 Ohio wide receiver will be on campus for the Irish’s Junior Day event this weekend.

“I talked to Coach Alexander a couple weeks ago,” Saunders explained. “He told me they wanted me to come back out so we could talk some more and get to know each other a little bit.”

The Westerville South High School standout was on campus last summer and again for the USC game back in October. He’s looking to accomplish the same thing as Alexander this time.

“I’m looking to build a better relationship with Coach Alexander and all of the coaching staff,” he said.

And Saunders, who has offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, West Virginia and Nebraska among many others, may not be leaving empty-handed.

“Coach Alexander told me that as long as my grades are good, I won’t be leaving disappointed,” he said. “That’s a good sign.”

What would an offer from the Irish mean to Saunders?

“It would mean a lot,” he said. “That’s a super advanced school with a great education. That’s what my family is about. They have good football there and it’s just a prestigious school.”

Saunders took recent visits to West Virginia and Florida.

“They were good,” he said. “West Virginia was nice. I got to talk to (offensive coordinator Gerad) Parker. He just got moved from Penn State over to West Virginia, so I got to talk to him again. All of the coaches at West Virginia are really cool.”

Saunders stopped at Gainesville while he was in Florida for a combine.

“That’s always been one of my favorite schools,” he said. “Growing up, I always watched them and was a fan of Florida. I just wanted to go check out campus while I was down there.”

And he could be back when he returns to the Sunshine State for a baseball trip over spring break.

But for now, his focus is on this weekend and Notre Dame.
