Our friend Scott Schrader from USCScoop had a long interview with top 2021 California athlete Ceyair Wright‍.

Much of the interview focused on the Trojans, but Schrader did manage to ask the Loyola High School target about the Irish as well.

“Notre Dame is great,” Wright told Schrader. “That’s another school I really like. I went out there and I had a really great time. They put together a great presentation for me and I really loved it. I got to see a basketball game. I got to see a lot of stuff. It was really fun. I had a great time out there for sure.”

Wright was struck by how much the people in South Bend cared for the Irish football program.

“Everybody really loved football while I was out there,” he said. “A lot of the people I met were interested in football. I was walking on the campus and some regular students just came up to me and asked, ‘Oh are you a recruit?’ I think it was really interesting. It’s a smaller place in a smaller town, so a lot of people are invested in the football team.”

Wright isn’t quite ready to announce which schools he’ll take his official visits to, but said Notre Dame is a serious possibility.

“That’d be a school I’d consider taking an official visit to,” said Wright.

Wright noted that former defensive backs coach Todd Lyght had been his main contact in South Bend, but now, it’s a multi-faceted approach.

“I’ve been talking to Coach Mickens a lot and also Coach Joseph and Coach Kelly also,” he said. “I’ve been talking to all three of them a good amount.”

You can check out the full interview here.

Wright talks about how his spring visits plans were impacted by COVID-19 and the accompanying dead period, his relationships with college coaches and how his acting career could impact his ultimate decision.
