Notre Dame QB Ian Book Named to Davey O'Brien Award Watch List

Watch lists aren't anything new for Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book. The fifth-year senior made several watch lists last summer and has now been named to the 2020 Davey O'Brien Award watch list, which is given to the nation's best quarterback.

Book is back in South Bend for essentially his third year as QB1 and it could be his best to date.

In 2019, Book threw for 3,034 yards, 34 touchdowns and six interceptions. Book's completion percentage did fall from 68.2 percent to 60.2 percent, but the Notre Dame will gladly take 15 more touchdowns and one less interception.

Book was also the first quarterback in Notre Dame history with at least 2,500 passing yards, 500 rushing yards and 30 TD passes in a season. Former Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts was the only other FBS quarterback to achieve that feat last season.

It's worth noting Notre Dame has never had a quarterback win the award, which is the oldest and most prestigious college quarterback award.
