Earlier this week, Billy Schrauth‍ told Irish Sports Daily readers to “stay tuned.”

On Friday night, the 2022 Wisconsin offensive lineman announced a top four that included Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Ohio State and Michigan.

“I think it’s going to be a lot easier on me not having to take so many phone calls and all of that stuff all of the time,” Schrauth said of cutting his list. “I think it’s going to be a lot better for me and the family so we can narrow things down and see where I’m going to be spending four years.”

The Irish making the cut came as no surprise.

“I think they’ve got a great tradition,” the St. Mary’s Springs High School standout said. “They have great coaches, great everything. It checks every box for me; great school, great football, great athletics. There’s something special about being on the Notre Dame campus, I saw it when I was there, so yeah, they’re definitely going to be one of my top schools.”

Irish offensive line coach Jeff Quinn has been leading up Schrauth’s recruitment.

“I love him, I do and the family does,” the 6-foot-5, 280-pounder said. “He’s been super personal with us, so it’s been a good time.”

With his own season pushed back to the spring Schrauth has been focusing on making the most of the extended offseason.

“You’ve just got to stay hungry and stay at it,” he said. “Keep getting stronger and keep getting hungrier to get out on the field and hit some guys. I know I’m going to be pretty hyped for our first game.”

Schrauth is confident he’ll be ready for the eight-game season this fall.

“I felt I did everything pretty decent last year, but I think I could improve with my hands. I’ve been doing a lot of grip strength, forearm strength. I think that’s going to be a big advantage. That’s something that’s super important that you never really think about.”
