It’s been an odd recruiting process for everybody, including JD Price‍, but the 2022 Texas running back managed to find a place to call home, committing to the Irish last month.

“Notre Dame just really stood out for me,” the 5-foot-11, 186-pounder told Jason Howell of TexAgs this weekend. “It's a very prestigious college, best of both worlds, Power Five academics/Power Five football. I've got a chance to play against some of the best competition and play with some of the best competition and get prepared for the Draft and play behind the best o-line in the world.”

The Denison High School star chose Notre Dame over offers from schools like Texas, Ohio State, USC and Stanford among several others.

“They're my most recent offer, but I'm committed, so I'm going to build a relationship with them and I've built a relationship with them,” he said. “It's a good relationship. I'm still learning a few things and learning a lot about them and Notre Dame.”

Notre Dame running backs coach Lance Taylor is Price’s point person in South Bend.

“He's a dude,” Price said of Taylor. “He gets straight to it. I'm committed and he's already talking about getting me on some Zoom calls to show me how they do things at Notre Dame football-wise. He's a straight to it guy.”

Price expects to get to campus for the first time “pretty soon.”

“Me and a couple of the other Notre Dame commits are planning on going up there on the same day,” he said. “The quarterback that committed Steve Angeli, Tyson Ford, one of the lineman, Nolan Ziegler, safety out of Michigan. So, a lot of guys from all over the nation that I've been hitting up.”

Price is excited to expand his horizons.

“I'm most looking forward to seeing new things,” he said. “I've never really been out of the state much, but just seeing new things and going a lot of places.”

The idea of playing college football “feels like a movie, honestly.”

“I can't wait,” he continued. “I've watched hundreds of YouTube videos of college cheers and chants and it's just awesome, just that feeling. It's a warm feeling. It gives you goosebumps when it's loud on Friday or Saturday nights.”

First up though, is his senior season at Denison.

“We've got new beginnings. We've got a new head coach at Denison High School and we're just focused on going to state. So that's my main focus right now. We're trying to win a state championship and then right after that, right up to Notre Dame and I'm getting back to work.”
