BREAKING | Dead Period To Be Lifted In June

It’s over. It’s finally over.

At least, it will be over soon.

The NCAA just announced that the dead period, which was initially put in place in March of 2020 and repeatedly extended in response to the COVID-19 crisis, will be lifted at the end of May.

So, come June 1st, in-person recruiting will once again be allowed for the first time in over a year.

“We are delighted to announce that as of June 1, all sports will return to their normal recruiting calendars,” Council chair M. Grace Calhoun said in a statement released by the NCAA.

“We want to thank all prospective student-athletes, their families, coaches and current student-athletes for their patience as we determined the best way to move forward safely with recruiting in Division I.”

The month of June will be the most hectic visit period in recent history.

The announcement was not unexpected and in fact, schools and prospects have been making tentative plans for this decision for several weeks now.

Notre Dame has dozens of prospects – in both the 2022 and 2023 classes – already tentatively scheduled to make visits to South Bend in the month of June.

The Irish are set to have especially large official visit weekends the second and third weeks of the month.

2022 running back Dallan Hayden, tight end Holden Staes, offensive lineman Jake Taylor, defensive lineman Anthony Lucas, linebacker Niuafe Tuihalamaka and cornerback Benjamin Morrison have all said they plan to be in South Bend the weekend of June 11th.

2022 offensive lineman Aamil Wagner (pictured above) is set to be joined by fellow uncommitted 2022 offensive linemen Joe Brunner, Billy Schrauth and Carson Hinzman for an official to Notre Dame the weekend of June 18th. Running back Nick Singleton, wide receivers Nicholas Anderson and Tyler Morris are also expected in town that weekend as are tight end Eli Raridon and defensive backs Jayden Bellamy and Xavier Nwankpa. 2022 Irish quarterback commit Steve Angeli is also set to be in town that weekend.
