Notre Dame has offered just three 2024 prospects to date and the most recent is St. Louis University (Mo.) receiver Ryan Wingo‍.

"I was at track practice and then my dad called and told me to call this number," Wingo told ISD. "The coaches can't call me yet because of the rules, so I called the number and Coach (Tommy) Rees told me I had an offer from Notre Dame."

The offer surprised the 6-foot-2, 198-pounder, but at the same time, Wingo had somewhat expected it as the staff had started following him on Twitter.

"It did catch me by surprise," said Wingo. "I did kind of think it was going to happen because a lot of people from Notre Dame were following me before they offered.

"I was still surprised because it's a big school. I'm just excited. It's great to have the chance to play at such a high-level school."

The St. Louis native knows about the football program and the first-class education, but not much more. Wingo will be at Notre Dame on June 6th for Irish Invasion and he's hoping to learn more about the program.

"I know the education is hard," stated Wingo. "There have been a few people from St. Louis who have gone to Notre Dame. I plan on talking to them about the school atmosphere because I don't really know that much about it, but I do know about the academics.

"My mom is really big on education. Now that I have the offer from Notre Dame, she was pretty pumped."

Notre Dame running back Kyren Williams is someone Wingo hopes to connect with soon as they're both from St. Louis, but there's another reason.

Wingo's recruitment started in middle school and he's done his research on schools. There was a time Wingo felt Notre Dame might not be for him, but Williams' success on and off the field gave him a new perspective.

"Coming into high school, I had an offer from Mizzou in eighth grade, so I had started to look at schools," explained Wingo. "I knew Notre Dame was a big school. I knew the academics were hard and it took my interest down. Then I saw Kyren doing big things there.

"They're building him into a can't miss player and he's also doing his school work. He went to St. Vianney and it doesn't compare to my school because we're higher academically. If he can do it and still be that good of a player, I think I could do the same."

On the field, Wingo has a chance to be one of the best in the 2024 recruiting class as the sky is the limit.

Wingo has only been playing receiver a couple of years, which is probably a scary thought for defensive coordinators around St. Louis.

"I feel my route running is a strength," said Wingo. "It got crisper because I didn't start playing receiver until eighth grade. I used to play quarterback. The first couple years, my route running wasn't good. I've been working on it a lot and my route running has become crisper.

"I'm pretty strong too. I can get people off of me. I feel my blocking is also a strength. I like to block a lot.

"I think I can improve on the small stuff. I can always work on releases, but I feel good about my all-around game."
