Sedrick Irvin Jr.‍ got his first look at Notre Dame during an unofficial visit on Monday and the talented 2023 running back from Florida left impressed.

“It went great,” the Miami native told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “We got to tour the campus. I got to talk to Coach (Tommy) Rees, Coach (Lance) Taylor and Coach (Brian) Kelly and then I got to try on the uniform, had some lunch and got to chat with Blake Fisher.”

Irvin has offers from schools like Notre Dame, Florida State, Stanford, Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Michigan State, where his father was a star running back.

The 5-foot-10, 185-pounder was impressed with the campus in South Bend.

“It's beautiful,” he said. “I really like the traditional look that it has to it and all the greenery. It's really nice.”

He also appreciated the time he got to spend with the Notre Dame coaching staff.

“They're good,” he said. “The one thing that I really liked is Coach Rees saying how he's able to use three backs because he takes the strengths of each back and puts them in a position to make plays.

“Coach Taylor, while he identifies the strengths and weaknesses, he puts players in positions to use their strengths while developing their weaknesses too.”

The Gulliver Prep standout also enjoyed the chance to meet Fisher in person.

“We were just chopping it up about normal stuff like on-campus life and stuff like that,” Irvin said. “I can tell he's a good guy.”

Irvin heads to Stanford on Friday, but doesn’t have any other trips set for the rest of the month.

Look for the Irish and Irvin to ramp up the contact moving forward.

“I'm definitely going to start talking to Coach Taylor more often,” Irvin said. “He made a great impression, especially on my mom and my dad. It was just nice.”

And expect Irvin to be back in town this fall.

“I'm going to come up for a game for sure,” he said. “The gameday experience is something I'm looking for.”

The Irish figure to be in the mix for a long time after today’s visit.

“They were definitely high before and they secured their position.”
