Paul Davis‍ is grateful to have an early offer from Duke, but the 2023 Georgia wide receiver is hoping for more.

The Hart County standout heard from several schools on Sept. 1st, including Notre Dame.

He was invited to camp in South Bend during the summer and was honored to hear from the Irish last week.

“It's a blessing because it shows that all of the work I have put in is showing off,” Davis said. “My old teammate, Cane Berrong, he's a tight end there. He let me know how it's a great school and they really care about academics.”

Davis also heard from schools like Auburn, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and Auburn last week.

“It was overwhelming, but it was a great day,” he said.

Davis was surprised to land his Duke offer a year ago.

“My coach called me and he was like, 'I'd like to congratulate you on getting your first offer from Duke,’” he remembered. “At first, I didn't think it was real, but after that I talked to Coach. Duke seems like a great school and it was a great day.”

College coaches have told Davis they like his style on the outside.

“They like how I'm a physical receiver,” he said. “I'm not the fastest. I run a high-4.5 and low-4.6, so I'm not the fastest, but I know how to get separation and use my strength to my advantage.”

Davis was at the Ole Miss-Louisville game in Atlanta on Labor Day and will be at Virginia Tech on Saturday. He hopes to get to South Bend at some point to see “the game day atmosphere.”

He has an idea of what he’s looking for in a college.

“How the coaching staff and the fan base treat me as family.”
