After camping at Notre Dame over the summer, Brauntae Johnson‍ returned to South Bend on Saturday for the Irish’s home finale against Georgia Tech.

“It was good overall,” the 2024 Indiana athlete told Irish Sports Daily. “I liked it. It opened my eyes for real.

“Just the environment. It's a good place. It's a good environment and it's somewhere I would want to be.”

The 6-foot-3, 175-pounder from North Side High School in Fort Wayne has offers from Indiana, Purdue, Iowa State and Central Michigan.

“I'd met Coach (Del) Alexander before,” Johnson said. “I talked to him. I came with Mylan (Graham), so he said he wanted to get us back up there and we're just going to keep in touch.

“He's a cool, chill coach for real. I feel like if I did come to Notre Dame, he would be a coach that I would want to be coached by.”

Johnson also had the chance to talk with a current Irish star.

“Kyle Hamilton asked me where I was from and stuff and we took a picture,” he said. “Then we just watched the game for the most part.”

Johnson was impressed with what he saw from the Irish’s offense during their 55-0 drubbing of Georgia Tech.

“I feel like it was pretty balanced,” he said. “If they have to run the ball, they can run the ball. If they had to pass it, they could pass it. It was a good offense, overall. It's not really one style, not run-heavy, not pass-heavy.”

Johnson is eager to see what’s next for him and Notre Dame.

“For me, I hope that next step is hopefully for them to give me an offer, but I don't know what they have in mind. So it's just going with the process and just seeing what happens.”
