Report | Notre Dame Set To Hire McCullough As RB Coach

It looks like Notre Dame has found its new running backs coach, according to Fox’s Bruce Feldman.

Deland McCullough would replace Lance Taylor, who left earlier this month to take the offensive coordinator job at Louisville.

McCullough coached running backs at Indiana from 2011-16 before a season coaching the position at USC. From 2018-2020, he was the running backs coach for the Kansas City Chiefs before returning to Bloomington as running backs coach and associate head coach in 2021.

ISD’s John Brice confirmed the news on Football Scoop and reported that Notre Dame hosted McCullough on campus Sunday before extending the offer to him on Monday morning.

Brice writes that McCullough “has carved an remarkable reputation as a strong leader, developer of talent and recruiter.”

McCullough was adopted as a baby and the subject of an unbelievable story regarding the search for his birth parents by ESPN a few years back.

The Irish are still in the market for a tight ends coach following Monday’s news that John McNulty would be taking the offensive coordinator job at Boston College and a defensive coordinator.
