Two-a-days is here and school is coming, but that means the regular season is on its way as well, which is what gets Jayden Limar‍ really excited.

Still, the 2023 Notre Dame running back commit is grateful to be back on the field with his Lake Stevens (WA) High School teammates this month.

“I'm excited to be out here,” Limar told Irish Sports Daily. “In the offseason, I got in this car accident, so I'm dealing with this little shoulder problem that I got after that. But two-a-days have been fun so far and the team's bonding real well, so everything is looking good.”

The 5-foot-11, 190-pounder says he’s “all good” following the accident.

“Preseason, they usually don't let me hit at all, so they're just kind of doing what they've always done, so it's nothing new to me,” he said. “Everything else is all good. This should be good for the first game and just keep going from there.”

As for team goals, Lake Stevens will be looking to capture its ninth straight district title.

“Just keep that streak going and then go and win state,” said Limar.

The talented back acknowledged being a senior in a program that has won eight straight WESCO titles can bring some pressure.

“I've said it the whole time, I just hope I ain't the year that loses it for them,” he said with a chuckle. “There's a lot of past history there; people would be real upset if we ever lost that. So, there's some pressure, but honestly at the end of the day, it's just playing football, so that's how I look at it.”

Individually, Limar just wants to do better than he did last season.

“I'm trying to break my all-purpose record,” he said. “I'm trying to hopefully get around 3,000 all-purpose yards. Last year, I had 2,500. I'm trying to get 500 more and then go from there. Hopefully, I can get that. That's about the only one I've got for myself.”

He certainly feels like he’s better this season.

“I definitely feel like I'm controlling my body better,” he said. “I got a little bigger, put on some more weight. I just feel like I'm running with some more impact behind it. I think it'll be one of my best years for sure, if not the best.”

He’s hoping to see the Irish in action a couple times this fall.

“Hopefully, I can get down for the Clemson game depending on my high school schedule and then probably get down to that Vegas game (vs BYU) because that's pretty close flight,” he said.

He’s enjoyed watching Notre Dame’s 2023 recruiting class continue to take shape.

“It's great,” he said. “Honestly, I've been just sitting back, talking to everybody. We're all happy with everyone we're getting and just rolling with it all. It's been going good. We're going to get some more good guys. We ain't done yet.”

Earlier this month, Limar was joined in the backfield by Kansas running back Dylan Edwards, who committed to the Irish on Aug 6th. Notre Dame continues to pursue 2023 Missouri running back Jeremiyah Love.

“I think it'll be really good. We got Dylan Edwards, who is ridiculously fast. He's a great attribute that we just added. I don't know who else we might get, but as of now, the running back room looks real solid.”
