The last few months have been crazy for 2018 North Caroline (Md.) defensive lineman Ja’mion Franklin as he went from zero offers to double-digit offers. The 6-foot-3, 305-pounder visited Boston College over the weekend and was encouraged with what he witnessed.

“I feel the last few weeks have gone smooth,” Franklin told Irish Sports Daily. “I just got back from visiting Boston College over the weekend. I also received an offer from Georgia Tech recently. It’s an exciting time.

“Boston College’s defensive line coach has coached JJ Watt, and he’s a great guy. All the coaches up there are pretty genuine. I liked the style of their defense, and when I watched practice, they were flying around.”

Before visiting Boston College, the three-star prospect was at the home of the defending National Champions to see what Clemson had to offer, and it didn’t disappoint.

“Clemson was incredible,” stated Franklin. “I had big expectations in my mind, and it was better than I expected. It was mind blowing to hear Coach (Dabo) Swinney talk about everything the program was about. It was a great visit overall.”

Franklin got the opportunity to see one of Clemson’s newest attractions as they have opened up a new football facility.

“The facilities were incredible,” explained Franklin. “They have a bowling alley in the player's lounge. They have a slide and a fire pits everywhere. The have things you would never even dream of in their facility.”

While the flash was great, Franklin is looking for more than excellent facilities. The people at Clemson were what stood out to the Maryland native more than the fancy facility.

“I’m looking deeper than that stuff, but there was a wow factor because they have that stuff,” Franklin stated. “The people were genuine there, and that was the difference. You can get a feel of when people are fake with you, but at Clemson, you know they are great people.”

Notre Dame will get the next shot to impress Franklin this weekend, and it’s a trip he has been looking forward to for a quite some time.

“I am leaving Thursday night, and I will be there on Friday morning with my coach,” Franklin said. “I am looking forward to putting faces to names and getting the whole experience of Notre Dame’s tradition.”

While Franklin doesn’t have an offer from the Irish just yet, the coaching staff will get a chance to size his physical and personality attributes up this weekend as Franklin is looking forward to strengthening his relationships with Mike Elko and Mike Elston.

“I want to build relationships with the coaches,” said Franklin. “I want to get to know the players and find out why they decided to attend Notre Dame.

“We have been getting close the past couple weeks. I am excited to finally meet them and talk more with them. I am just excited to get up there and see everything.”
