2018 Pine-Richland (Pa.) quarterback Phil Jurkovec has consistently made it back to campus to help recruit and solidify his recruiting class since committing to the Irish last May.

The five-star prospect was back at Notre Dame last weekend, and his presence was felt as he helped land 2018 Florida tight end, George Takacs.

“I got to hang out with George and watch the Pens game and stuff,” Jurkovec told Irish Sports Daily. “It was good just to hang out.”

Takacs gave his pledge to the Irish on Wednesday night and gave Jurkovec another massive target at tight end.

“He’s another strong, fast, 6-foot-6 target,” stated Jurkovec. “He will be great for Coach (Chip) Long’s offense. I can’t wait to win with him on board.”

The 6-foot-5, 200-pounder also had a good time hanging out with fellow commits Jayson Ademilola, Justin Ademilola, Derrik Allen and Markese Stepp but also uncommitted prospect Shayne Simon.

“It was a lot of fun and a good time,” Jurkovec said. “I got to hang out with a bunch of the guys and talk to the coaches again. It was another good trip to Notre Dame.

“It’s a good bond. All of the commits and recruits that were there, I got to talk with them a good amount. I liked them all.”

One of the things Jurkovec and his future teammates did was take a canoe out on the lake in the middle of Notre Dame’s campus.

“We were just chilling and looking for something to do,” laughed Jurkovec. “We wanted to go swimming and went to the lake. The lifeguard let us rent out canoe, so we took it out on the lake a little bit.”

Another reason for Jurkovec’s visit was to build his relationship with quarterbacks coach Tom Rees. The two have hit it off over the past few months and getting time with his future position coach is only a positive.

“It’s going well,” explained Jurkovec. “He seems like a great guy and an even better coach. I didn’t see him coach much, but I saw him go through a few drills with the quarterbacks. I can’t wait to get up there and have him coach me.

“I’d say we are building a relationship more than him recruiting me right now.”

The Pennsylvania native also got the chance to see the Notre Dame quarterbacks and other members of the team. Jurkovec had some questions about daily life and got those answered by some of the freshmen.

“I did get to see all the quarterbacks,” Jurkovec stated. “I also got to hang out with some of the guys already there like Brock Wright and Robert Hainsey. All the questions I had about campus life and the daily schedule, they answered.”

One thing that Jurkovec has thought about recently is the possibility of enrolling early at Notre Dame.

“I have thought about it, but I don’t think I will do it,” said Jurkovec.
