The recruiting process is just getting started for Deven Jarvis‍ and the 2019 California athlete is looking forward to what’s to come.

“I’m just starting as of a couple weeks ago,” the 6-foot-2, 180-pounder from Bishop Amat High School said.

Jarvis, who has been clocked at 4.6 in the 40-yard dash, could play safety, cornerback or wide receiver at the next level.

“My coaches from Bishop told me they really enjoy my physicality and how I read the plays and situate plays,” said Jarvis. “I’m able to read things easy.

“I’ve been getting letters from some colleges. So far, I’ve gotten letters from Purdue, University of Southern California, TCU, Washington and Oregon.”

The La Puente, Calif., native will be in the Midwest with his team next week and they will make the swing down to South Bend for Notre Dame’s opener against Temple on Saturday, Sept. 2nd.

“I have a game in Chicago on Sept. 1st,” Jarvis said. “We’re playing Loyola Academy and we’re going on a few site-seeing trips after our game.”

Jarvis is excited to get a look at the Irish.

“The football team and how things are situated and organized at Notre Dame,” he said of what he wants to see. “I just want to see how the campus is and the administration is.

“I know a little because I have a teacher who went to Notre Dame. He said it was a very good college.”

Jarvis, who is also a standout outfielder and pitcher for his high school squad, has an idea of what he’s looking for in a college.

“The biggest thing for me is going to be academics more than athletics, where I fit in because I want to be focused on academics and move on with my life, especially if football doesn’t work.”
