This past weekend many Notre Dame commits were in action for their respective high schools. Four commits are still waiting on their opening day.

This coming Friday, Saint Peter’s Prep will be in action for their first game of the season. Three Irish commits play for the New Jersey power, including twin defensive linemen Jayson Ademilola‍ and Justin Ademilola‍ along with linebacker Shayne Simon‍. Four-star Maryland defensive tackle Ja'mion Franklin‍ and his team at North Caroline High School also open up their season on Friday against Wicomico High School.

Five-star 2018 Pennsylvania quarterback Phil Jurkovec‍ dominated in his Week 1 performance. Jurkovec and his teammates at Pine-Richland High School ran away with a 41-0 victory over Ohio’s Wayne High School in a nationally-televised game. The future Irish signal-caller combined for six total touchdowns, three through the air and three on the ground while racking up 356 total yards for his team. Jurkovec will be back in action Friday when his team hosts Mt. Lebanon High School.

Four-star 2018 linebacker Jack Lamb‍ was unable to play most of his team’s opener when he sustained an undisclosed apparent knee injury. Great Oak High School missed their star linebacker’s presence and lost their opening night game 42-0 to Heritage.

Four-star 2018 running back Markese Stepp‍ ripped off this 74-yard touchdown run on Friday night. Stepp led the way for Cathedral (Ind.) with 125 rushing yards and two scores. Cathedral fell to King (Mich.) 38-35.

Three-star 2018 wide receiver Micah Jones‍ accounted for two of his team’s three touchdowns in their Week 1 loss to Barrington High. Jones caught three passes for 32 yards, two being for six. Despite Jones’ scores, the standout and Warren Township dropped their opener 34-20.

Four-star 2019 quarterback Cade McNamara‍ aired it out in his team’s opener, completing 27 of his 40 pass attempts and racking up over 400 yards through the air. McNamara accounted for five total touchdowns in Damonte Ranch’s 46-16 victory over Northgate.

Three-star 2018 linebacker Bo Bauer‍ led his Cathedral Prep squad to a 40-7 victory over perennial power Central Catholic. Bauer notched eight tackles, two sacks and multiple hits on the quarterback. Bauer and his teammates at Cathedral Prep are happy to open the season with a win and to continue their winning way.

Three-star 2018 offensive lineman Cole Mabry provided great pass protection in his team’s 41-21 win over Cane Ridge this past week. Brentwood High’s quarterback was given time to throw by Mabry and his fellow linemen as he was able to carve up Cane Ridge’s secondary for over 300 yards and three touchdowns.

Three-star 2018 running back Jahmir Smith and his teammates were able to account for their second straight shutout to begin the season on Saturday. Lee County shut out Holly Springs 45-0. Smith started Lee County’s scoring when he scored from 28 yards out in the first quarter.

Three-star 2018 offensive lineman John Dirksen proved great run blocking along with his fellow linemen, as Marion High School was able to breeze through week 1 one with a 35-7 victory over Chaminade-Julienne. Dirksen and the rest of the Marion Local offense put up 28 points in the first half.

Four-star 2018 safety Derrik Allen and the rest of the defense at Lassiter High School adjusted to Pope High School’s misdirection early, allowing just six points in their 42-6 Week 2 win. Allen not only anchored the Lassiter defense and was a presence on special teams, but he also contributed in offense putting his team on the board first with a 14-yard receiving touchdown.

Four-star 2018 linebacker Ovie Oghoufo and his fellow teammates at Harrison High School dropped their week 1 matchup against East Grand Rapids, 33-8. Oghoufo and his teammates look to bounce back this Thursday when they go on the road to face Troy High School.

Four-star 2018 tight end George Takacs and his fellow Gulf Coast teammates won their Week 1 game on Friday with a 27-2 victory over Lely High School. Takacs contributed to a 27-point performance for the Gulf Coast offense.

Four-star 2019 defensive tackle Jacob Lacey was dominant in his team’s Week 2 win. South Warren High School handled powerhouse Warren Central 43-6. Lacey tallied 6 tackles with 5 for a loss and was a presence in the opposing backfield.

Four-star wide receiver Kevin Austin Jr, and his team at North Broward Prep won 57-0 in their week 1 matchup against Pembroke Pines Charter. Austin helped North Broward’s high-powered offense to a dominant performance. The margin of victory provided a chance for North Broward to empty its bench early. Austin managed two catches and a score and had a punt return called back before his day was done. Austin and his squad will have a challenge this week against Benjamin, a school with multiple legitimate Division-I targets.
