Britt Enjoys Notre Dame Return

Justin Britt made his second visit to South Bend this weekend to watch the Irish in action against the Midshipmen.

“It was cool,” the 2019 Indiana offensive lineman explained. “The last time I went to Notre Dame, they played Stanford, but this game had more history behind it, so to see the players and fans do their thing was cool.

The three-star prospect enjoyed his visit last season to South Bend, but this year he is further along in his recruiting process, so that made quite the difference in his experience.

“I was more recruited this time, so personally since I have already been there, I felt wanted, so it made me watch the game a little bit more,” Britt mentioned.

The junior standout wasn’t able to tour the campus in depth during the trip, but he was able to see select things and talk to some players.

“I got to see the sports complex where they have all the trophies,” the Indianapolis native said. “I got to talk to a couple of the players when they came in. They talked about their daily lives on campus and then we got to go onto the field and watch the players warm up and finally watch the game.

“They talked about how they were able to wake up in the morning, go to a workout and go to their classes, then eat, go to more classes and then go to practice. They were just explaining their daily lives.”

Despite the cold and rainy weather, Britt was impressed with the atmosphere inside Notre Dame Stadium.

“It was cool,” stated Britt. “I know it was cold, but you could still feel like everyone was involved with chants and fans snapping on coaches. All that fun stuff.”

The 6-foot-4, 267-pounder focused in on the position he would be providing protection for, and was impressed with the Irish’s dominance in the trenches.

“The quarterback, I seen how early in the game he was tripping and wasn’t making throws, so he started to run a little bit more, but the o-line said, ‘I got you,’ and he started to get settled in so that made me look at the offensive line,” expressed the junior standout. “Since it was cold, they had to be able to run the ball and I think they were able to do that.

“I think they played good under the circumstances, I was out there and it was freezing cold. The game was close going into halftime, but they made it close by scoring. Coming out of the half, I think they came out with a chip on their shoulder and played how they normally play,”

With this being his second time being in South Bend, the youngster remembers how nice the Notre Dame campus was, but would like to get back to South Bend to tour the campus fully.

“I liked it a lot, just how everything is structured,” he said. “The facilities are easy to get to and as a freshman being able to get to class on time is cool because everything is together.

“I want to go to a campus visit during the offseason so I can see the facilities in more detail; I want to see where the engineering program is and how close that is to the football facilities.”
