Omari Thomas‍ was excited headed into his unofficial visit to Notre Dame earlier this month and the 2020 Tennessee offensive lineman wasn’t disappointed when he left.

“I think it went good,” the 6-foot-5, 290-pounder from Memphis told us following his trip to South Bend for the Irish’s home finale against Navy.

“I really enjoyed the facilities and the coaching staff. I also enjoyed the fan base and atmosphere.”

The only downside of the trip was the cold, wet weather, which prevented extended tours of the campus.

The Notre Dame coaches were glad the talented sophomore made the visit.

“They just thanked me for coming down and they told me that they will be in touch,” Thomas said.

Thomas, who has early offers from Oklahoma, LSU, Mississippi State and Tulsa, doesn’t have any other visit plans now that he’s into his basketball season at Briarcrest Christian, but he has at least one future visit in mind.

“I would love to get back up to South Bend,” he said. “I would love to get a chance to check out the locker room and take a look around the campus.”

This month’s visit was only a first impression, but it was a strong one.

“I think it is a very unique place and I would love to come back up for another unofficial.”
