2019 Destrehan (La.) receiver Quinton Torbor‍ has been on Notre Dame’s radar for quite a while and Irish receivers coach Del Alexander stopped by Destrehan on Tuesday to check on the 6-foot-2, 180-pounder.

“He just watched me workout,” Torbor told Irish Sports Daily. “We didn’t talk or anything like that.”

While there wasn’t communication between Torbor and Alexander, the Louisiana native appreciated Notre Dame making the trip.

“It meant a lot that he would come down to check on me,” explained Torbor. “They don’t just send people down here to just send people down here. They have a reason, and that’s what made it exciting to have him stop by.”

If Destrehan sounds familiar, then you’re right. Notre Dame freshman receiver Michael Young comes from the program.

“I haven’t heard anything bad from Mike,” Torbor said. “He’s told me all good stuff about Notre Dame.”

Torbor is also aware of Young’s success in the Citrus Bowl against LSU.

“I didn’t really get to watch it, but I saw his touchdown catch,” said Torbor. “It looked like Mike from high school.”

Auburn, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Marshall, and Memphis have already extended offers to the three-star prospect and Torbor is still in shock when he thinks about the future.

“I don’t even know where to start,” laughed Torbor when asked about the recruiting process. “Sometimes it’s crazy. I’m nervous and don’t know what to say sometimes. It’s one of those ‘I’m speechless’ things.”

There is one offer Torbor wants, and it’s a West Coast school.

“I want an offer from USC,” stated Torbor. “They have been my dream school since I was younger.

“When I was younger, I had wanted the No. 25 because of Reggie Bush was in New Orleans. My dad gave me No. 5 and I was upset about it. He told me Reggie Bush went to USC and he wore No. 5. Then he told me I was going to be just like him.

“That was one of my best years of football even though it was my first year.”

As for his future plans, Torbor expects to get out this spring on visits, and he’s merely looking for a place that feels like home and where he doesn’t feel like a stranger.

“I don’t have any visits planned out yet,” said Torbor. “I’m planning on taking some of my officials in the spring, but I’m figuring it out with my parents.”
