Nelson a Top-10 Pick in Latest MMQB and ESPN Mock Drafts

There's a long time before the actual NFL Draft, but it's good to see where things stand right now before the Combine and free agency.

Albert Breer from The MMQB came out with his latest mock draft (based on information from sources from around the league) and he has former Notre Dame offensive lineman Quenton Nelson slotted in to the New York Jets at #6. Breer has Mike McGlinchey as the third offensive tackle off the board at #17 to the San Diego Los Angeles Chargers as well.

Other notable players that the Irish faced this season are sprinkled throughout with USC quarterback Sam Darnold at #1 to the Cleveland Browns, NC State defensive end Bradley Chubb #3 to the Indianapolis Colts, and Georgia linebacker Roquan Smith at #10 to the Oakland Raiders.

Mel Kiper Jr. came out with another mock as well today ($) with Nelson heading to Tampa Bay at #7. He has Chubb and Smith in the same slots at Breer, but has Darnold to the Denver Broncos at #5.

It's interesting to note that McGlinchey is not in Kiper's mock first round. Another interesting difference between Kiper and Breer is that UCLA offensive tackle Kolton Miller is at #32 (to Philadelphia) for Breer and Kiper has him at #12 (to Cincinnati).

McGlinchey and Texas offensive tackle are top-20 picks in Breer's mock. Neither are in Kiper's, but Louisville tackle Geron Christian is (#30 to Minnesota). There's probably going to be a quite a bit of debate at the position and it will be interesting to see if McGlinchey ends up in the first round or has to wait until day two to be selected.
