2019 Marist (Ga.) safety Kyle Hamilton‍ made the trip to South Bend from Georgia for a two-day unofficial visit at Notre Dame. The 6-foot-2, 183-pounder wrapped things up on Thursday afternoon, and it couldn’t have gone better.

“I got to hang out with one of the players yesterday, but Thursday was the main part of the visit,” Hamilton told Irish Sports Daily. “I watched practice in the morning and then went on a school tour. I saw the Mendoza College of Business, and they showed me some other areas on campus like the Basilica before going inside the stadium.

“I met with a bunch of coaches, so it was a pretty full day.”

Hamilton was impressed with what he saw at practice, including a high-level of competition from the Irish.

“I really liked the practice,” said Hamilton. “It was fast-paced. There were a lot of reps for everyone, and it was very competitive.”

New safeties coach Terry Joseph spent time with the Georgia native, and the message was about the chance to compete early in South Bend.

“He was telling me how freshmen can be competitive at Notre Dame,” explained Hamilton. “He felt I could make a big difference and explained how I fit into the scheme. He also explained how he could teach me everything.”

Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly also met with Hamilton. The conversation wasn’t so much about football as Kelly made it clear what Notre Dame could do for Hamilton.

“I knew what Notre Dame was about before the visit,” stated Hamilton. “I know it’s a great academic school and has a great network. Coach Kelly told me the alumni network was unlike every school in the country. He said Notre Dame could provide opportunities most schools can’t and showed me how unique the school is.”

The chance to see the Mendoza College of Business was a major highlight of the trip as Hamilton is leaning towards studying Business.

“It was important,” Hamilton said. “I knew Notre Dame was a respected Business school, but I didn’t know it was the No. 1 undergrad Business school in the country. That’s a big plus knowing that they have the best Business school in the country.”

Hamilton will now head to Columbus to see the Buckeyes for an unofficial visit on Friday.
