Preliminary contact with Notre Dame is under way and if the Irish’s interest increases, Myles Murao‍ would be on board with taking a visit to South Bend.

“I just got something in the mail for camp and stuff,” the 2020 California offensive lineman explained.

The Mater Dei standout said he would “most definitely” be up for a trip to Notre Dame if invited.

Along with seeing things about Notre Dame growing up, one Irish star and fellow California native has shared his love for Notre Dame with the youngster.

“Growing up and stuff, I knew it was a big school,” Murao explained. “I had a friend who went out there, Equanimeous St. Brown. He said he loved it out there and he said they treated you like a family and that’s something I want to be a part of.”

If given the chance to experience South Bend for himself, Murao would want to see it all, unable to pinpoint one thing he would want to see most.

“I have no idea,” Murao acknowledged. “I’d want to meet all of the people and see it all.”

The rising junior has been caught off-guard with all the recent FBS attention.

“Honestly, I didn’t expect to get offers until like the middle of my junior season,” Murao expressed. “It gives me more motivation to get other schools and get noticed by more people and stuff like that.”

Murao holds five offers as of now from UCLA, Washington, Utah, Colorado, and Oregon State.

Being 6-foot-3 and 280 pounds with two more high school football seasons left, it is clear why college coaches are already showing great interest, but due to his team’s style of play and the talent around him, Murao has been able to become really proficient in one aspect of his position, which has his name buzzing.

“(College coaches) told me my pass blocking is really, really good,” he said with confidence. “We’re a passing school. We had five great receivers and J.T. Daniels throwing the ball. We passed like 80 percent of the time and I did pretty well. I only gave up one sack and it was the first game.”

Even with the sport trending more toward passing in recent years, Murao wants to be a well-rounded player and he is working to do just that this offseason.

“I want to work out of a two-point or three-point stance and work on my run-blocking definitely,” explained Murao.

The youngster has also been dedicated to the weight room and has put some weight onto his frame.

“I’ve gained like 40 pounds since the season,” Murao informed Irish Sports Daily.

It may be early in the process, but he has a strong sense of what factors will go into his final decision when the time comes.

“First of all, the Business program because I want to major in Finance,” he said. “Second of all, I want to be put into a family and feel accepted the culture around me.”

Murao has no visits planned, but is open to taking trips as opportunities come.
