Notre Dame has landed a commitment from the nation’s top punter as 2019 Hillcrest (Ala.) punter Jay Bramblett‍ has committed to the Irish after visiting over the weekend.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder held one offer from Missouri before last weekend’s visit but wasted little time jumping on board when Notre Dame extended him an offer on Tuesday evening.

Saturday was the first time Bramblett got to meet special teams coordinator Brian Polian and he left extremely impressed.

“He’s a first-class guy,” stated Bramblett. “I’d say he’s one of the best special teams coordinators in the country. He’s just an awesome guy to be around. He’s a really nice guy.

Notre Dame's academics ended up being the biggest selling point as the Tuscaloosa native was able to see opportunities he couldn't receive at other programs, including the hometown school.

“The life after college part at Notre Dame is so much greater than Alabama or anywhere else,” explained Bramblett. “That really sold me, and that’s why I like Notre Dame a lot. The relationships that are being built are far more important than they could ever be at Alabama or anywhere else.”

Chris Sailer Kicking ranks the Tuscaloosa native as the No. 1 punter in the 2019 class and isn’t bashful about the Bramblett’s potential.

“Jay is a big-time high school punting prospect. A great looking athlete with an explosive leg. He has an ideal frame for a D1 college punter. Jay punts for outstanding distance and big hang time. He easily averages 45+ yards, with 4.6+ hang time. He also shows the ability to hit punts 50+ yards, with 5.0+ hang time. He has great hands, his footwork is solid, and he is one of the most consistent punters in the nation. He is a great competitor that punts with confidence. Jay is a fine young man that is always a pleasure to work with. Look for him to dominate this offseason and pick up multiple D1 offers.

“Phenomenal prospect.”

Bramblett makes commitment No. 11 for Notre Dame’s 2019 recruiting class as he will look to take over Tyler Newsome next fall.
