Decision Day for 2019 Four-Star RB Kyren Williams

It’s decision day for 2019 St. Vianney (Mo.) running back Kyren Williams‍ as the 5-foot-10, 190-pounder will announce his decision at 6:00 p.m. CT at his high school.

The four-star prospect released a Top 8 not too long ago, but this decision will come down to Michigan, Missouri and Notre Dame.

Williams grew up wanting to play for Missouri as it’s the local program, but visits to Ann Arbor and South Bend made significant impressions on him.

Last summer, the St. Louis native arrived at Notre Dame for Irish Invasion with some buzz after a big sophomore season and left the camp as one of the most impressive skill position players in attendance.

However, it was Del Alexander that he spoke with at Irish Invasion as he was seen as more of a slot receiver, but that changed over the next few months as teams started to project him at running back.

Stanford was one of the first programs to view Williams as a running back prospect, and others, including Notre Dame and Michigan quickly followed in recruiting him as a running back.

Williams made it back to Notre Dame for a Junior Day visit in April with his parents and left blown away as he saw the Irish program in-depth for the first time. The academics and athletics matched up with what he was looking for, but the chance to connect with Autry Denson might have flipped the recruitment.

Denson made an impression on Williams and his family that gave Notre Dame momentum throughout the spring as Williams somewhat put recruiting on the backburner during 7-on-7.

Illinois hosted Williams for Junior Day in February, and then Michigan offered him at the end of March. Williams made his way to Ann Arbor on April 21st, and Michigan quickly closed the lead on Irish.

Williams was impressed with the education he could receive from the public school, but also the coaching staff knocked it out of the park with him.

Missouri got his first official visit on June 1st, and Williams has built a strong relationship with offensive coordinator Derek Dooley. The chance to play in the SEC is a strong pull for top recruits, and the Tigers are getting new facilities, which is always a big selling point.

Notre Dame got Williams back to South Bend last weekend for an official visit and allowed him to get a feel of life as a student-athlete. The chance to feel comfortable with the team and fellow recruits was a powerful one, especially when you consider Williams has several friends and former BOOM Football teammates on the current roster.

Michigan was supposed to host Williams this weekend for an official visit, but with a Thursday decision, we don’t expect that visit to happen.

Final Prediction: Notre Dame

2017 Stats: 102 carries for 922 yards and 22 touchdowns. 51 catches for 774 yards and 12 touchdowns.
