Notre Dame will always hold a special place for Collin Sullivan‍ and his parents.

“My parents actually met there,” the 2020 Texas wide receiver explained. “They were both at some conference for law school and they met there. They didn’t go there for school, but they met there.”

Sullivan was back in South Bend with his folks this week, first for a campus tour and then for a camp on Friday.

“I actually came up and got to go around the school,” the Round Rock, Texas native said. “I came up two summers ago, so I’d seen it before. But it’s a beautiful school with great academics.”

The coaches at Notre Dame explained that an offer may not be coming right now, but possibly soon.

“They told me they’d been through my film and like what they see,” Sullivan said. “It just takes time with their school for the recruitment process.”

Sullivan already has offers from schools like Arkansas, Baylor, SMU, Kansas, Boston College, Arizona and Oregon among others.

“It’s different of course, but it’s set up a lot of things for me,” the Round Rock High School standout said. “It’s a blessing. It’s a really big thing that it’s happened really early.”

And he isn’t worried about having to wait longer for an offer from the Irish.

“I understand it because a pretty good amount of schools are like that,” he said. “It’s just how they run things.”

Sullivan, who measured in at 6-1.5 and 184 pounds, felt he performed strong at Friday’s Elite Skills Camp.

“It went good,” he said. “The competition was good. We had a lot of good receivers and quarterbacks out there. My times were great, so it all went pretty good.

Sullivan said he was clocked at 4.53 in the 40-yard dash.

“They didn’t tell me my shuttle, but I just knew it was a good time,” he said.

Notre Dame receivers coach Del Alexander made a strong impression.

“Coach Alexander and them were helping me throughout the camp, going through drills and everything,” said Sullivan. “They all liked how it was going.

“I like the way he coaches…I met him the other day when I came up to the school and he talked to me and my parents about what he likes in his receivers. All coaches coach different, but it was just his coaching style that was really good.”

Sullivan plans on remaining in touch with the Irish staff moving forward and potentially returning for another trip.

“I’m not planning on going back this summer, but maybe something during the fall,” he said. “I’m not too sure yet, but maybe a game.”

He doesn’t have any other visits planned either.

He does know what he’s looking for in a college; comfort and education.

“That’s where you’re going to be for the next four years and anything can happen. I look at the school and also the academics, just how it can set up my future.”
