Jalen Paxton‍ wanted to see something different and the 2020 Texas wide receiver will get that chance this weekend, when he visits Notre Dame for the Irish’s game against Stanford on Saturday night.

“One of the coaches sent my coach an email saying that they wanted us to come for a visit for any home game and I chose the Stanford game,” the 6-foot-1, 175-pounder said.

“This is the first time I’ve ever visited Indiana, it’s the farthest college I’ve been to. It’s just something new.”

The Manvel High School standout doesn’t know much about Notre Dame, but what he does know is positive.

“One of my favorite receivers went there, Will Fuller,” he said. “I hear that it’s pretty.

“My uncle was a truck driver, so he’s visited Notre Dame before. He said it’s beautiful. He said the scenery and the campus is nice, the stadium, everything.”

This will be Paxton’s first visit of the fall and he doesn’t have any other trips scheduled at the moment.

The Manvel native already has offers from Indiana, Louisiana Tech and Louisiana-Lafayette.

“It’s just the mindset to keep going, keep working hard, keep getting more offers and keep showing that I deserve it and that I can do it,” Paxton said of the early offers.

He’s also receiving interest from schools like Texas A&M, LSU and Tennessee. Paxton has been clocked at 4.49 in the 40-yard dash.

“They like that I’m fast, physical,” he said of college coaches. “I’m a really good blocker. I can catch the ball, create separation off my route even when I’m not getting the ball.”

Education will be a big factor in his ultimate decision.

“I want to major in Business Management, so if football doesn’t work out, I can have something to fall back on,” he said. “I feel like if I major in Business Management and the school I go to has a great program, that can go a long way even if I’m not playing football.

“Another thing is the sports program. Obviously, I would like to go to a strong base, like Notre Dame, it’s a very base. They’re known for winning games and being fast. I like colleges like that. And I want to go somewhere I can play, maybe not straight out because I would not mind redshirting. I’d be perfectly fine with that.”
