Daylan Carnell‍ made the trip up from Indianapolis to South Bend to check out Notre Dame on Saturday and the 2021 athlete left impressed.

“It was good,” the 6-foot-2, 185-pounder told Irish Sports Daily afterward.

“I got to see some of the buildings they had and we got to walk around the stadium.”

The atmosphere around the campus for the Irish’s game against Florida State stuck out to the Ben Davis High School sophomore.

“They told us about they’ve had a whole bunch of consecutive sellouts going back to 1970-something,” Carnell recalled. “I could tell it was just a great atmosphere to be in.”

He was also impressed with the Irish’s performance during their 42-13 win over the Seminoles.

“They handled Florida State easily, running and passing,” he said. “They had like three passing touchdowns and a couple rushing. They handled them easily.”

The sophomore from Indiana was in South Bend for a camp during the summer, but got to see more of campus this time and liked what he saw.

“It was better than I thought it was going to be,” he said. “When I came up the first time, I didn’t really expect all of that and I got to see more of it, so it was cool.”

Carnell, who could play receiver or cornerback, already has offers from Purdue and Cincinnati.

He’d like to get back to Notre Dame soon.

“I’ll probably be back up some time in the winter,” he said.

“I’d like to get a better feel for the coaches and see more of the campus.”
