As the Cotton Bowl approaches, Notre Dame fans can expect to hear several names from the recruiting trail surface in the coming weeks.

The Irish have won several battles against Clemson and vice versa, but today, we’ll take a quick look at some the names you could hear on December 29th who might sound familar.

RB Lyn-J Dixon - Taylor County (Ga.) - Class of 2018
Dixon was offered by Notre Dame in the spring of 2017 and was somewhat warm to Notre Dame. Classmate Jahmir Smith got to campus first and committed in June of 2017. Dixon committed to Tennessee a few weeks later before switching to Clemson in December of 2017.

RB Tavien Feaster _ Spartanburg (S.C.) - Class of 2016
The four-star speedster was offered by Notre Dame and never showed interest as he committed to Clemson early in his recruitment.

WR TJ Chase - Plant (Fla.) - Class of 2016
Chase was offered by Notre Dame in 2014, but the four-star prospect never visited despite being a teammate of Tony Jones Jr. and Robert Hainsey for a period of time at IMG Academy.

WR Tee Higgins - Oak Ridge (Tenn) - Class of 2017
Higgins was a five-star prospect and spoke highly of the Irish each time I spoke with him. However, he never made it to Indiana.

WR Derion Kendrick - South Pointe (S.C.) - Class of 2018
Notre Dame offered the five-star prospect but never got a visit.

WR Trevion Thompson - Hillside (N.C) - Class of 2014
Thompson, a four-star prospect, was offered by Notre Dame but never visited.

OL Matt Bockhorst - St. Xavier (Ohio) - Class of 2017
Notre Dame never offered Bockhorst, but the four-star prospect wanted an offer from the Irish. In fact, if offered, Bockhorst would have likely committed on the spot.

OL Jackson Carman - Fairfield (Ohio) - Class of 2018
Carman visited Notre Dame in September of 2016 and was extremely high on his experience. The five-star actually set plans to return to South Bend later in the season but then canceled and never returned to campus.

DE Austin Bryant - Thomas County Central (Ga.) - Class of 2015
The four-star prospect visited Notre Dame in the summer of 2014 for Irish Invasion. Bryant worked out at the camp and oddly enough went against offensive lineman Jerry Tillery.

DE Justin Foster - Crest (N.C.) - Class of 2017
Foster was offered early and worked out at Irish Invasion in June of 2016. Foster worked at linebacker, but the Irish never gained much traction following the visit.

DE KJ Henry - West Forsyth (N.C.) - Class of 2018
Held an offer from the Irish and did not visit.

DE Xavier Kelly - Wichita East (Kans.) - Class of 2016
Notre Dame offered Kelly in March of 2015 and got him on campus in June of 2015. That was about it between Kelly and Notre Dame as he committed to Clemson just over a month later.

DE Justin Mascoll - South Gwinnett (Ga.) - Class of 2018
Notre Dame offered the four-star prospect at the right time but never gained any traction.

DE Logan Rudolph - Northwestern (S.C) - Class of 2017
The four-star prospect had talked about visiting South Bend but committed earlier than anticipated and never made it to Notre Dame.

DE Xavier Thomas - IMG Academy (Fla.) - Class of 2018
The five-star prospect was offered by Notre Dame, but it was too late in his process to even secure a visit.

DT Albert Huggins - Orangeburg Wilkinson (S.C.) - Class of 2015
Notre Dame offered, but Huggins didn’t visit South Bend.

Darnell Jefferies - Newton (Ga.) - Class of 2018
The three-star prospect was offered by Notre Dame but never gave the Irish much of a look.

DT Dexter Lawrence - Wake Forest (N.C.) - Class of 2016
Lawrence picked up an offer from Notre Dame but never made it to campus despite a connection to Autry Denson.

DT Christian Wilkins - Suffield Academy (Conn.) - Class of 2015
Wilkins was offered by Notre Dame early in his recruitment but strangely never showed much interest in Notre Dame. In fact, the five-star prospect never even visited Notre Dame, which was odd as he was a perfect fit academically.

DT Jordan Williams - Cox (Va.) - Class of 2017
Notre Dame offered Williams very early, and the four-star prospect was on the edge of visiting but didn’t make it to South Bend.

LB Rahshaun “Shaq” Smith - IMG Academy (Fla.) - Class of 2016
Held an offer and never visited.

CB Kyler McMichael - Greater Atlanta Christian (Ga.) - Class of 2018
Held an offer and didn’t visit Notre Dame.

CB Trayvon Mullen - Coconut Creek (Fla.) - Class of 2016
The four-star prospect held an offer from Notre Dame and talked about visit South Bend several times but ever visited Notre Dame.

CB AJ Terrell - Westlake (Ga.) - Class of 2017
The five-star cornerback visited Notre Dame for Junior Day in 2016, and it seemed like the Irish were going to be a player. Terrell never returned to South Bend and committed to Clemson before his senior season.

CB LeAnthony Williams Jr. - Roswell (Ga.) - Class of 2017
The four-star prospect visited Notre Dame for Junior Day in 2016 and left with an offer. Notre Dame made an impact on his family, but it wasn’t quite enough as he committed to the Tigers less than a month later.
