Tommy Christakos‍ camped at Notre Dame last summer and the Irish have continued to show interest in the 2020 Arizona wide receiver, stopping by Chaparral High School last month to check in on him.

“Only my coach talked to them,” Christakos explained. “They didn’t have me come up and say hello.

“They just wanted to let me and Coach know that I’m of high interest to them and to keep working hard and stuff like that.”

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound junior is also one of the nation’s elite kicking prospects and he has a high interest in the Irish.

“Notre Dame would be an awesome school for me to play football and from an academic standpoint,” he said. “The campus is beautiful. Obviously, they’ve been an established program for years. They’re good at football and they also have some of the highest education in the country, so it’s the best of both worlds.”

Christakos has double-digit scholarship offers from schools like Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Iowa State, Utah, Harvard, Yale and Princeton among others.

“It’s good,” he said. “People will say you can get cocky, but you just try to stay humble and keep your head on the ground. I love the exposure and I love the recruiting process. I’m just looking forward to March and April.”

He’s hoping he might be able to add the Irish to that list at some point.

“If I can pick up an offer from them, I would definitely go out there and visit them again,” he said. “I got a good tour of the campus, I’d just like to meet most of the coaching staff. Last time, it was just part of the camp.”

Christakos, who wants to major in Business, Finance or Sports Management, wants to make his commitment before the start of his senior season.

“I’m definitely looking for education. I want to use football to get a great education. Some kids look for the uniforms, the stadium, how many people. To me, it’s they have a solid, established program that hasn’t had a ton of coaches in the last couple years and obviously, my commitment with these people is important.”
