Caleb Offord‍ said if he enjoyed himself during his unofficial visit to Notre Dame this weekend, he’d be back for an official visit.

“Everything went well this weekend,” the 2020 Mississippi cornerback said. “I got to see the campus and the history of the buildings. I got to see the view of the whole campus. They’re building an indoor facility, so I got to see the inside of that as well.”

He said his time with the Irish coaching staff was “great.”

“They were just talking about their pasts and comparing Notre Dame to all of the other schools,” he said. “They said if you get a chance to come, it’s a very special offer. I was impressed to get that offer.”

One of his tour guides showed him the academic side of campus.

“He talked about some of the engineers who went to The League and got their Engineering degree and everything,” said Offord. “He showed me the program, so I got to learn a lot about that.”

Offord really enjoyed the campus in South Bend as well.

“The campus was really beautiful,” he said. “I liked how it’s all the same architecture, the same brick. You’ve got the Golden Dome on top of one of them. Everything looked great.”

Offord made the trip with both of his parents and said, “They loved it more than me probably. They were very excited and smiling the whole time. They seemed to like everything.”

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound corner didn’t have much time to spend around any of the current players.

“Maybe when I come back up there, I’ll get a chance to spend time with some of them,” he said.

Indeed, the Southaven High School standout will be back.

“I’ll get back for an official, I’ll have to look at what date,” he said. “I’m going to try to come back in August right before the season, but if I can’t make that trip, I’ll probably get them in in the fall.

“I really just want to see the rest of campus because I know I probably didn’t get to see every single thing in detail. I want to see the rest of campus, some of the dorms on the inside and get to spend time with some of the players and coaches.”

He will take an official visit to Kansas on June 21st and said, “After that, I don’t think I have any set plans.”
