2021 Notre Dame OL Commit Blake Fisher Feeling Recruiting Momentum

Recruiting momentum is a real and Notre Dame has it.

Last weekend, 2021 Avon (Ind.) offensive lineman Blake Fisher‍ committed to the Irish along with 2021 defensive lineman Gabriel Rubio‍. The commitments of the two four-star prospects will now be joined by 2021 four-star tight end Cane Berrong‍ out of Hart County (Ga.).

Berrong committed to the Irish on Friday evening and Fisher couldn’t have been more pleased.

“It’s phenomenal to get a guy like him,” Fisher stated. “I didn’t think he was going to commit this early, but when we get a big guy like him, it’s always good.”

The 6-foot-6, 325-pounder had been in contact with Berrong before his commitment to Notre Dame and will now look to build the relationship moving forward.

“He texted me not too long ago to congratulate me on my commitment,” stated Fisher. “Cane said Notre Dame was a top choice for him.”

It’s ridiculously early in the process for the 2021 recruiting class, but Notre Dame already boasts five commitments and currently hold the No. 1 class in the country.

Fisher is aware of the ranking and while it’s nice, the Indiana native knows rankings don’t matter much at the end of the day, but he also knows the Irish are bringing in serious talent at the same time.

“Rankings are cool and all that, but if you really dig deep and look at the film of each guy, we’re getting a lot of great guys,” explained Fisher. “To have the No. 1 class in 2021, it speaks volumes and should attract a lot more people.”

The Avon star has a big personality which will go over well as Fisher looks to recruit and build relationships with his classmates. He’s already working on several prospects, including a few top offensive linemen.

“I’m working on a few linemen right now,” Fisher said. “I’m seeing where they are at, but guys are enjoying their recruiting process like I was and they are taking it day by day.”

Fisher has been a Notre Dame commit for a week and life couldn’t be better.

“It’s great waking up every day knowing I’m part of the Notre Dame family,” said Fisher. “I can’t wait to get on campus. It will be a minute, but I know I’ll go there and it’s going to be a great time.

“I’m going to get developed academically and athletically. It feels great to be committed to Notre Dame.”
