I’m not exactly sure when it started. I just know that whoever came up with had a great idea. The Inside the Irish blog from NBC Sports has aggregated a top-25 list each year from a group of Notre Dame writers and bloggers as part of their “Counting Down the Irish” feature which ranks the most impactful players for Notre Dame.

I remember when former blogger Keith Arnold did it and it’s been continued on by Douglas Farmer after him.
