Josh Adams captivated Notre Dame fans from the first time he touched a football in South Bend as he ran 14 yards for a touchdown, but the Philadelphia native also has an intriguing story as his mother, Apryll, tells in her book ‘Born Rushing Yards.’

Adams takes you through the journey of a special kid and family from Philadelphia, who endured many challenges from the moment her son was born to the moment he signed with an NFL team in 2018.

It’s a story of perseverance as there were family struggles, injuries, and heartache, but it also led to a 2017 Heisman Trophy campaign.

One of the most fascinating pieces in the book details Josh’s recruitment and how he ended up at Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish weren’t the favorite heading into the recruiting process and Adams also details dealing with a coaching change at Notre Dame in the middle of her son’s recruitment.

“Josh was off the phone and I tiptoed back into the kitchen. I waited for Josh to run down the steps and tell me of his decision. But you know what? Nothing! So, I waited and waited. Finally, at the end of the night, Joshua came into my room.

“Mom, I’ve decided to commit to Notre Dame.”

Adams captures not only her son’s journey, but how she relied on faith to get her family through the toughest of times and how she cultivated invaluable relationships throughout Josh’s football career.
