As the other Notre Dame assistant coaches celebrated as National Letters of Intent began rolling in at the Gug at 7 a.m. Wednesday morning, Brian Polian knew his day would be longer than most of his colleagues’.
NCAA rules prohibit student-athletes from inking their letters of intent before 7 a.m. local time and Polian’s key recruit was in Hawaii, which meant he wouldn’t be able to sign with Notre Dame until five hours after many of the other prospects.
