I'm not exactly sure why, but for some reason I have been obsessed with the idea that 10 wins a year is the standard for a good program in college football. Maybe it's because Notre Dame has only reached it so few times (four to be exact) since 1993. In hindsight, that was the last peak of a sustained run for Irish football. Since then they've been chasing elite program status and have shown glimpses, but never kept anything going from year to year.
