2025 WR Elijah Burress Talks Notre Dame Offer & More

Elijah Burress‍ was quite fired up to land an offer from Notre Dame last week.

“I was ecstatic,” the 2025 New Jersey receiver told Irish Sports Daily. “ I was very excited. I was very blessed and thankful that I got that offer.

“It's just a big name and it's a great legacy. Growing up, I always knew about Notre Dame. I was just very excited to get an offer from there.”

Burress’ offer sheet also includes schools like Michigan State, Cincinnati, Duke and East Carolina among others.

He learned of the offer from new Notre Dame receivers coach Mike Brown.

“He liked my film and he said I fit the scheme, and he said that he really liked me as a player,” Burress said of Brown.

Burress’ initial impressions of Brown are positive.

“I think he's cool,” Burress said of Brown. “He was honest with me when he evaluated my film. I thought I was cool. He's definitely nice. I definitely like him as a coach for sure.”

Burress is planning to get to South Bend soon.

“100 percent, I definitely want to get up there for sure,” he said, adding that he doesn’t have any set date.

“Not yet, but I definitely want to get up there very soon. I just want to see a great campus. I want to see love from the coaches and everything like that, just make sure it's a good program for me.”

It’s too early for Burress to have any true favorites.

“I like all the schools that offered me,” he said. “All the schools that are interested in me, I'm interested in them.

That would include Michigan State, the school his father, Plaxico Burress, starred at.

“Michigan State did offer me when I was in eighth grade,” he said. “The legacy would be crazy. I would love to go there for sure.”

Burress’ father has provided valuable advice on the recruiting process.

”My dad just tells me to stay grounded, stay humble no matter what, these offers don't mean nothing. You've got to go on the field and you've got to perform. You've still got to work through everything.”
