Film Don't Lie | Anthony Sacca
It’s always a big deal to land a commitment from a blue-chip linebacker recruit. It’s an even bigger deal when Notre Dame beats Ohio State and Alabama to land him. That’s what happened with the Irish adding Anthony Sacca to their class.
It’s no secret why these top programs would want to add a player like Sacca. He’s a great athlete and fits the profile as a modern day three down linebacker.

What he does best:
Sacca is a very good athlete with the speed to cover a lot of ground. He stands out as a perimeter defender.
He excels in coverage. Sacca has great ball skills and he shows great recognition in both zone and man.
A physical player that hits through on contact, he’s capable of playing on the ball.
He’s not often utilized as a blitzer, but he can accelerate quickly and shows great potential in that area.
What he needs to improve:
He’s mostly played in space after converting from safety. He projects to play inside in college and has a lot of work to do when it comes to recognition and block destruction verus the run.
He was pretty much a nickel defender as a junior. Even though he technically made the switch to linebacker, he needs to gain experience playing in the box.
What’s his ceiling?
Sacca’s long term fit is as a Will or a Mike. He has all of the physical traits to develop into a quality starter there for the Irish with plenty of sub-package value. I think he has the potential to be an outstanding coverage linebacker who can match up with tight ends and most running backs.
I see him as a very similar athlete to Jack Kiser. I don’t believe Sacca will start out as a Rover, though, and that should ultimately speed up his development compared to Kiser’s.
