Jordan Deck‍ has tried to pattern his game after a certain former Notre Dame safety, so the 2026 Texas safety was fired up to add an offer from the Irish last month.

“It's a blessing,” the 6-foot-3, 180-pounder from Lone Star High School said after landing an offer from Notre Dame during the Irish’s Pot of Gold Day push.

“I just remember watching Kyle Hamilton and I'm built like Kyle Hamilton a little bit. I'm not that big yet, but I've modeled my game after him. I just remember watching him with the Notre Dame uniform and it's like a dream come true, the gold helmet, it's a dream come true.”

The Lone Star High School standout learned the news from Irish GM Chad Bowden.

“He was a cool guy,” the Frisco native said of Bowden. “He was straightforward, but he kind of told me in an exciting way.

“He didn't just make it all boring and generic. It wasn't like, 'Yeah, you've got an offer.' He kind of led me on for a little bit and then got me a little excited. I think he's very cool.”

Deck’s offer sheet also includes schools like Texas A&M, Baylor, Arkansas, Houston, Penn State and Pitt among others.

“I definitely will consider Notre Dame because that's one of the dream schools that I wanted to go to,” he said. “I will definitely do whatever I can to get down there and make sure that's a priority.”

Deck has made spring visits to SMU, Baylor and Texas A&M.

It’s still early, but he has an idea of what he’s looking for.

“I'll have to see who they've got coming in, who they've got coming in to play my position,” he said. “But also going there just to see how the coaches are and how the school is. I'm pretty sure that's going to be pretty, but it is just mainly seeing who's in front of me.”

He’s also hoping to build connections with the coaching staffs.

“ A lot of times coaches get fired and they go to different schools, but I imagine having a connection with the coaches, it makes it way easier. If I know that those coaches are going to stay for a little bit and they're good coaches, then I'll definitely pick that school especially, but also a school, like I said, where I could go in and play.”
