2019 GA WR Enjoys Notre Dame Trip
Adrian Compton was looking forward to checking out Notre Dame.
“Nobody speaks bad about Notre Dame,” the 2019 Georgia wide receiver said before he had a chance to see it for himself.
“They’re always high on people’s lists when they’re talking about schools.”
The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder was looking forward to learning more about the traditions in South Bend and he certainly wasn’t disappointed with his trip to South Bend for the Irish’s win over Miami (OH) on Sept. 30th.
“It was amazing,” the South Gwinnett High School standout said afterward. “Seeing the traditions in person are 10 times better that just hearing about them.”
The junior wideout had already taken visits to other schools, including one to Georgia, but was impressed by the campus at Notre Dame.
“I liked the architecture of the buildings,” he said. “It gave me a different type of feeling.”
He was also impressed with the atmosphere during the Irish’s 52-17 win over Miami.
“It was intense, especially the student section!” said Compton. “Even though they were up by so many points, the crowd was still as loud as it was at the beginning of the game.”
He didn’t get the chance to have many in-depth conversations with the coaches, but hopes to do that in the future.
“I would like to take more visits to Notre Dame and build a better relationship with the coaches,” he said. “After the game, when we were invited into the locker room it seemed like the players had a lot of respect for Coach (Brian) Kelly and how he was putting them in the right position to win.”
Compton is still waiting on his first offer and is hearing from schools like Georgia, Kentucky and Florida State with the latter two showing the most interest right now.
“They like my explosion off the ball and how I can high-point the football,” he said of college scouts in general.
Academics will play a primary role in Compton’s eventual decision.
“I want to go to a school with my major. I want to major in Criminal Justice.”
