Trainer | 2025 CB Trystan Haynes A Serious Prospect, Serious About Notre Dame

When Notre Dame offered Trystan Haynes‍ last month, it was obvious it was an offer the 2025 Oklahoma cornerback would be taking seriously.

On Tuesday, Haynes announced a Top 6 that included the Irish along with Alabama, Georgia, Texas A&M, Miami and Oklahoma.

“I think the prestige of Notre Dame carries weight, the education, academics,” Haynes’ trainer at C4 Sports Performance & Fitness, Sean Cooper says.

“His mother really cares about his academics. His family really cares about his academics and where he goes.”

Cooper also trains current Irish running back Jadarian Price.

“The same as with JaDarian, that prestige and that history of Notre Dame carries weight,” Cooper says.

According to Cooper, Haynes is expected to make it up to South Bend to see it for himself sometime soon.

There doesn’t seem to be any leaders within the leaders just yet.

“From what I've talked to him about, his six is his six,” Cooper says. “I don't think there are tiers to it.”

Cooper sees the 6-foot-2, 175-pound Haynes as a prospect with an extremely high ceiling.

“His size, his speed, his length, and his projection and potential to play DB on Sundays,” Cooper says of what makes Haynes a national prospect. “He has the size, length and projection to play DB on Sundays because he's still new to the position.

“He was a running back and receiver growing up, so that's why he's rated so high. He shows the flashes of having elite ball skills. That's why he had 1,000 yards receiving and I think he just projects to be a Sunday cornerback.”

Cooper expects Haynes to get better through experience.

“Just reps, reps, reps,” he says. “He's a dog. He's smart. He’s really smart, so one thing that he does well is he understands spacing, he understands leverage, he understands where his help is. He has a high football IQ.

“I think he just really has to get even more reps; just doing it and playing it and getting comfortable with it. He shows he's comfortable with it, but with anything in life, experience brings more comfortability and more confidence. I think he has confidence in his ability, but just getting those reps another year is going to help him do well.”

And Cooper expects Haynes to do just that.

“The offers have only made him work harder,” says Cooper. “When I met him, he wasn't even ranked yet. His ranking has only made him work harder. I would say he's really a lot like JaDarian, just really quiet. I think his personality type of getting fit is like JD's, so it suits a place like Notre Dame.”

Off the field, Cooper describes Haynes as reserved.

“Extremely quiet, extremely observant and extremely direct. He's really respectful, just great to be around. Great personality, great kid, listens and is really thankful and grateful for everything that he has. And grateful for the people who help him on the day to day get to where he is.”
